introduction
In the process of completing this project, the entire American Studies class at Hamilton High School has learned a great deal, both about the veterans themselves and about the world they lived in and the mentality of the United States during World War II. The men and women of this, the Greatest Generation, devoted their lives to the cause of winning the war. This essential goal united the nation and inspired every citizen -- whether they were on the home front or overseas -- to give their all. We were privileged enough to interview and document the stories of only a few of these individuals, yet, the impact was no less substantial. As a class, we have taken this assignment to heart. Every member has applied the same devotion to the collection and presentation of these stories so that others may feel the same impact. These are their stories, these were their lives, and this is their tribute.
