Pep Band Guidelines
All band students (grades 9-12) are part of the pep band, and are responsible for the games on the attached schedule.
In the event that a student has a conflict with an assigned game, they must notify Mrs. Alfaro in writing at least two weeks in advance.
A student may be excused from one game (after Mrs. Alfaro’s approval) without penalty or need to complete make up work.
All excused absences are at the discretion of the band director.
Unexcused absences are not eligible for make up work and will affect the student’s grade.
If the team goes to tournaments (and our team usually does), the number of students who may travel with the pep band is often limited. Determination of who will attend is at the discretion of the band director. Instrumentation needs and other factors will be taken into consideration.
During games, students must sit with their assigned section. Students, friends, etc. who are not in the pep band and dressed in the uniform (described below) are not permitted to sit in the band’s section.
The band usually has 3rd period of the game off to get a snack and/or drink. It is the students’ responsibility to keep track of the time and be back in the stands at the assigned time (usually one minute before the end of the 3rd period). The band must be ready to play at this time.
Uniform for the Pep Band consists of:
· Blue embroidered “HHS Band” Polo Shirt (neatly tucked in)
· Black Slacks, band shoes, and black socks.
(Note that this is the same as our current “summer” uniform.)
Pick-Up Time
While this cannot be controlled, due to game conditions, we are usually finished at approximately 9:00 p.m. for evening games. Please make sure that transportation is available. Students may wish to call their parents during the 3rd period break to ensure that their ride is ready on time. DO NOT wait until after the game to call for a ride.
